Navigating the transfer from a two-year to a four-year college presents unique challenges. This compontent of the workshop includes activities covering the expectations for transfer process, tips on adapting to university life, and resources for planning out the transfer process. Additionally, we invite recent transfer students to share strategies for building a supportive academic community post-transfer.

Programming skills are essential for academic research. Partnering with The Carpentries, CARP offers modified lessons from Software and Data Carpentry communities to teach Python basics, data visualization, and Unix tools used in astrophysics research. All curriculum materials are on the CARP GitHub page.

CARP workshops are tailored for community college students aspiring to transfer to a four-year university and engage in undergraduate research. While astrophysics-focused, applicants from all STEM majors are welcome! No prior coding experience is required, though basic familiarity with introductory astronomy topics (e.g., reference frames, proper motion) is beneficial. Eligibility is primarily based on transfer intent, self-perceived transfer readiness, and interest in computational research.
